The Ron Clark Academy Welcomes the Class of 2015

MeetAndGreet1

On May 14, 2011, the Ron Clark Academy welcomed the Class of 2015.  Every year, RCA rolls out the red carpet to meet and greet our new incoming fifth grade class, and this year was no exception as students were greeted by cheers and dancing as they made their way into the building.

Traditionally, the reception for the new fifth grade class is held outside; however, the weather brought the celebration indoors.  The rain didn’t dampen the spirits of the students, staff, and parents who filtered through the lobby of the Academy.

The students were greeted by a welcome from Ron Clark, founder of RCA, who discussed the history of the school and the Academy’s philosophy.  Additionally, Bearden introduced the staff who enthusiastically ran up the stairs forming a line to greet the new fifth graders one by one.

MeetAndGreet4

“Each year, we call the name of each one of our rising fifth graders who are a new part of our family,” said Kim Bearden, cofounder and executive director.  "This year the eighth grade class awaited each student at the top of the stairs for a special moment together.  Although the class of 2015 will not have the opportunity to spend time with our graduating eighth graders, we believe that they will feel their presence and be inspired by their legacy.”

To finish the day, the Essentials step team chanted the name of the Ron Clark Academy as they stomped and shared the heart and spirit of the school. Then the entire RCA family enjoyed a barbecue feast.

Thirty students were admitted into the school out of more than 380 applicants.  Students must apply while they are still in the fourth grade to enter the Academy as a fifth grader.
