Tuesday, December 15, 2009 THE RON CLARK ACADEMY HOLDS 2ND ANNUAL XTREME BEDROOM MAKEOVER CONTEST Atlanta’s Giving Community Spreads Holiday Cheer to a Dozen Families ATLANTA (December 15, 2009) — The Ron Clark Academy reached out to the community to join in a magical experience again this holiday season! For the second year in a row, the Academy worked with its closest sponsors and volunteer organizations to conduct an Xtreme Bedroom Makeover competition. Each organization that chose to participate was responsible for renovating the bedroom of one of RCA’s students over the weekend of December 4-6th. The bedrooms were judged and the top three winners were announced in a special awards ceremony at the Academy today.
This year’s first place winner was Promethean for their Harry Potter-themed bedroom. The design included faux stone walls, a four-poster bed, a mural of the fictional Hogwarts, iron light fixtures, and a starlit ceiling. A design team of over 20 employees worked around the clock to make the magical castle come to life.

Contest Background
After identifying those students in need – through an essay contest - a group of RCA judges selected 13 students best suited to participate in this year’s contest. RCA then paired students with companies, organizations, and families who wanted to join in the fun! During the weekend of Dec. 4th-6th, each makeover team entered the home of their assigned student and work on his/her bedroom for that weekend only. Participating RCA families were hosted by InterContinental Hotels Group at a Holiday Inn for the weekend.
Twelve teams joined in the fun this year to spend one weekend helping to makeover the bedrooms of thirteen Ron Clark Academy students. This year’s participating teams included Associated Builders and Contractors of Georgia, Atlanta Industry Liaison Group, InterContinental Hotels Group, The Home Depot - which put together three teams, NAIOP Georgia Chapter, Promethean, Verizon Wireless, The Beecham Family/King’s Ridge, The Mixson Family, and aerosol artist Mister Totem. And a special thank you goes to Kilpatrick Stockton LLP for their financial support of this year’s contest.
