The Ron Clark Academy (RCA) received a special visit to honor and surprise one of our own champions in the classroom, Adam Dovico, global studies and mathematics teacher at the school. Symetra Financial Heroes in the Classroom program is presented by SunTrust Bank and recognizes 16 Georgia teachers for outstanding leadership and instruction skills during the Atlanta Falcons season. Teachers are nominated by school administrators, district staff, parents or students. Winners are chosen based on their ability to balance the core curriculum with the combination of meeting students’ needs and earning students’ trust. On November 5, 2010, Dovico was recognized in a surprised presentation for his accomplishment in education. Falcons executive Peyton Gallaher and Reggie Emanuel, Group Vice President of Area Management of SunTrust, presented the distinguished honor. Freddie the Falcon and the Falcon cheerleaders accompanied the executive team to kick off the surprise presentation during wheels spins at RCA.
Dovico received two tickets to a Falcons home game, a VIP sideline experience, and recognition during a live on-field presentation. Additionally, he was given an autographed jersey, an Office Max gift card to buy supplies for their classroom, and $1,000 donation to give to the school on his behalf. “We are so proud of Mr. Dovico’s accomplishments in education. He is truly a hero to all of us at the Academy,” said Kim Bearden, co-founder and executive director of RCA. “Adam is continuously opening his heart to all of his students. He is always investing his time even outside of the classroom to make a difference in their lives. We are so elated that he is part of our family.”
