Friday, November 7, 2008Students Play Pirate for the Day Anyone who knows a little something about Ron Clark, knows that he’s a huge sports fan. And he’s particularly fond of his alma mater’s teams, the East Carolina University (ECU) Pirates.
Each year, Mr. Clark journeys back to Greenville, NC for ECU’s Homecoming, and he always enjoys brining a few students along with him. This is always a fun, down home trip, but not one without a little adventure.
Homecoming is a big deal at ECU, and so fans always dress up in their best Pirate paraphernalia in shades of purple and gold. RCA students participated in the game-day activities and were designated honorary Pirates for the day.
While in North Carolina – Mr. Clark’s home state – students visited with Clark’s family, including his nephew. A good home cooked meal is always a highlight mixed in with some catfish fishing by the lake.
