Friday, March 20, 2009RCA Students Prepare for Trip to Peru.March 20, 2009 – Mrs. Barnes's seventh grade language arts students demonstrated their understanding of exposition by learning about and producing Peruvian dishes! Students took on the roles of Head Chef, Sous Chef and Maitre'd in order to decide upon a recipe, create a shopping list, combine the ingredients to please the palette and present the dish at a beautifully set table. To the rhythms of Afro-Peruvian music and armed with knowledge of their causa [Peruvian potato salad] or ceviche [Peru's national dish] dish; students were critiqued on their welcome, the ambiance created, the presentation of the dish, the flavors of the dish and most importantly the knowledge they passed on to their patrons. Invited underclassmen, staff and parents gave their first taste of Peru rave reviews!
