While teaching a lesson, he and his class were interrupted when Ms. Walker brought a guest into the room, none other than Mr. Barney Northrup (a local actor who wore a pilot’s cap and really played the part)!
Mr. Clark’s students are too well-behaved to be rude, but they later shared that they were “freaking out” on the inside. Mr. Northrup announced that he had letters to deliver for the reading of the will of Mr. Allen R. Blood at “Blood Mansion” on Saturday night. The invitations were professionally made and contained all of the details for the reading of the will, location of Blood Mansion and a few hidden clues. The students turned pale as Mr. Northrup called their names and hand delivered the invitations to go to the “haunted” Blood Mansion! The invitation encouraged the students to come in character, and the students showed up at the school on Saturday night at the designated time, decked out from head to toe as characters from the book. They really took the whole experience very seriously, and there was much talk of clues and solving the mystery. A limousine was sent to pick up the students and Mr. Clark. When they got inside, the driver asked Mr. Clark where they were going. When Mr. Clark told him ”Blood Mansion,” the driver refused to take them there, saying, “You can’t pay me enough to drive there, and we won’t have enough insurance to cover what will happen to you if you go in there!” (This was all planned, of course.) The students, however, weren’t in on the joke, and they suddenly began to take the whole experience very, very seriously. Upon arrival at Blood Mansion the students did not want to get out of the limousine. Mr. Clark told them, “Don’t worry, you can call me if you need me.” They replied, “WHAT?” realizing that Mr. Clark didn’t intend on going with them. He simply stated, “Of course I’m not going in with you, I’m not crazy!” In short, the students took a hold of Mr. Clark and pulled him out of the car and into the mansion by force! They were terrified!
In the end, the students discovered that Mr. Allen R. Blood wasn"t dead at all, and the game that night was a test of their academic abilities. The students were definitely relieved, and the night came to a close with cake and punch. Bringing education to life is what RCA is all about, and that night is certainly one that our students will never forget. |
