London and Paris in Spring
Our Sixth grade students traveled to London and Paris and reflected on each day's adventure in journal entries that included the word or phrase of the day. Here are a couple of entries from a day when “On the other side” was their given theme.
"On the other side" by Arsene Lakpa On the other side of the road was the most wonderful thing, something that filled me with so much awe ---The Tower Bridge! When we made it to the bridge, I was shocked to learn that back when it was constructed, some people did not want it to be built. I was so glad that they decided to build it so that I could see it today. Next we went to the Tower of London. When we went to the White Tower, we got to look at the arsenal of Henry VIII. Then we got to see the infamous Crown Jewels! The Crown Jewels were so astonishing! I can't believe we got to see the crown that most monarchs were coronated in! We also got to take a picture with a Yeoman Warder! On the other side of the horizon is our next day, which should be interesting... "On the other side" by Jayla Ellis On the other side Across the Atlantic Ocean I open my eyes to London And there I see a different world Waiting for me On the other side Things I've never seen From people driving on the other side of the road to people with a new sense of fashion Skinny jeans are surely back in style On the other side Making the U.S. look even younger than it already is Knowing this is where it all started What would we do without history? Other sites and activities in London included: Westminster Abbey, Windsor Castle, a journey through the National Portrait Museum, a night out to see “Wicked”; and RCA’s version of the Amazing Race. While in Paris, students visited the Eiffel Tower, Palace of Versailles, and of course, the Louvre.
