RCA students were shocked when the Ron Clark Academy welcomed a special visitor last week.  KeKe Palmer, star of the new movie Joyful Noise and many other blockbuster movies and television hits, spent the afternoon with the students of RCA.

Ms. Palmer has teamed up with the YMCA and Saving Our Daughters to address the increasing issues of bullying among young people.   Ms. Palmer knows from personal experience how painful bullying can be, so she is committed to helping young people truly understand the effect that bullying can have on others.

To set the tone of the day, KeKe Palmer was welcomed by an impromptu performance by our talented Essentials Step Team.  The Essentials, as they are commonly known, had Ms. Palmer and guests surprised and highly impressed with the level of skill among the young steppers.

After the performance, Ms. Palmer was guided upstairs to address the entire school.  She shared an amazing story of her rise to fame with students.  As an actress and singer who never had formal training, Ms. Palmer spoke about her parents and how much they sacrificed to help her reach her dream of becoming an actress.  Most importantly, she encouraged the students to believe in themselves and to never give up on their dreams.  All who were in attendance were touched by Ms. Palmer's warmth, sincerity, and enthusiasm.

Ms. Palmer also spoke about how she had to overcome bullying when she was younger, and how she wants all young people to understand the impact it can have on others.  During the presentation, selected students joined Ms. Palmer in reciting their oath to uplift others and combat bullying among their peers.  At the conclusion of the day (after the traditional RCA Slide Certification), Ms. Palmer graciously remained to shake the hand and hug every single RCA student.
