RCA is well on its way to establishing traditions. The first ever Founders’ Day was held on Thursday, June 12th. Students, faculty, and the entire staff joined to make a special presentation to Ron Clark and Kim Bearden, Founder and Co-Founder respectively, of the Academy. Mehari Kassa, the school’s Director of Development, organized this moving event, which included a gorgeous plaque presentation to both Ron and Kim thanking them for their vision, ingenuity, passion, and perseverance to serve children around the world. In future years, the second to the last day of every school year will be deemed Founders’ Day at the Ron Clark Academy in honor of these two unbelievably dynamic leaders.
On a lighter note, as a special surprise to Mr. Clark and RCA students (they’re all big NBA fans), Atlanta Hawks center Zaza Pachulia stopped by the school on Founders’ Day for a visit. Pachulia answered questions from the students and even joined in a game of hoops during the Academy’s intramural basketball championship.
