Atlanta CEO Council Donation to the Ron Clark Academy

The Atlanta CEO Council held its year end networking event at the Ron Clark Academy (RCA).  The organization believes in the power of giving back and making a difference in the lives of students.  The celebration raised awareness and support of RCA with a donation of $44,750 to fund scholarships for students attending the school.

The event, held at RCA on December 6, 2010, provided a unique opportunity for members of one of the Atlanta area’s top business organizations to attend an exclusive Atlanta CEO Council event, spend time with key business leaders and experience the innovative learning environment of the Academy.

“The Atlanta CEO Council is a group of amazing business owners that have big hearts.  Last year, they raised a year’s tuition for a RCA student, and every year they continue to help us grow.  We love them and value their commitment in making a difference in the lives of our students,” said Kim Bearden, co-founder and executive director of RCA.

A highlight of the event was Are You Smarter than an RCAer?, a competition between RCA students and Atlanta top business leaders, including Sig Mosely, President of Imlay Investments, Inc., who tested his knowledge and wit against RCA students.

“The Ron Clark Academy is a bright light in our community which sets us apart,” said John Bacon, an Atlanta entrepreneur, investor and member of Atlanta CEO Council.  “As we embrace and support this incredibly innovative education solution, we will see clear benefits which reach into many phases of our business and personal lives.  Few initiatives are good for both business and soul, but RCA certainly is!”

Many of the members of the Atlanta CEO Council took advantage of the GOAL Scholarship program, a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization that allows a taxpayer to receive state tax credit and a federal tax deduction by donating and designating their contribution to be used for scholarship at a participating school.  To date, there are 89 GOAL participating schools which have awarded more than 700 scholarships.
