With the new school year come new staff and board members at the Ron Clark Academy. We are pleased to welcome 2 new teachers, a new counselor, and 5 new board members to the RCA family.
Our new science teacher, Daniel Thompson, comes to RCA from Auburn, Alabama, where he taught at both the middle school and high school levels, utilizing methods of Whole Brain Teaching as well as music. He also maintained duties as a football and baseball coach. Mr. Thompson is a graduate of Auburn University.
Also joining our staff as a teacher is James-Michael Hogue, who has taken on teaching U.S. History. Mr. Hogue comes to RCA from Greenville, South Carolina, where he taught 5th grade Social Studies. He is currently a member of Call me MISTER, a program designed to increase the number of minority males working in the educational field. Mr. Hogue earned a degree in Elementary Education from Anderson University.
Elektra Thompson joins RCA as the new professional school counselor after working in the Cobb County School District. She worked in corporate America for 5 years before realizing her purpose for working with the youth, wanting to help students succeed academically while managing their emotions. She then earned a Master Specialist of Education degree in School Counseling from Georgia State University.
New members of RCA’s Board of Trustees include Vincent Young, who is the Vice President of Global Marketing at Promethean. Also joining the board is Louis Alterman, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at EarthLink. Kaye Morgan-Curtis joins the board from Newell Rubbermaid, where she is the Senior Manager of Global Philanthropy. As the Vice President of Brand & Corporate Communications at Arby’s and the new Executive Director of the Arby's Foundation, Chris Fuller is also a new RCA board member. Pat Arrington, Vice President of JE Dunn Construction Company, rounds out our new RCA family members.
